How Representation Works
Understand the people, boundaries and offices behind the ballot.
Who represents whom?

|---|---|---|
| U.S. House | One representative for your congressional district. | Eight district pages |
| U.S. Senate | Two senators represent Colorado statewide. | Colorado senators ↗ |
| Colorado House | 65 districts, each with one representative. | Address lookup ↗ |
| Colorado Senate | 35 districts, each with one senator. | Address lookup ↗ |
| County and city | Local structures may use districts, at-large voting or both. | County election offices ↗ |
| School and special districts | Separate boundaries and election rules apply. | Official records ↗ |
Population is not the same as voters.
Resident population, voting-age population, eligible voters, registered voters and votes cast measure different things. The district population figures here are dated 2020 Census plan references.
Ask four questions.
- Where is the residence?
- Which boundary dates apply?
- How is this office elected?
- Who is serving now?
